Market Street, Newbury is a large and comprehensive development, consisting of a wide variety of high-end and housing association apartments to bring affordable housing to the local area.

Effectively referred to as the 'urban village', the Market Street development consists of over 230 residential homes, spread over nine blocks and providing a mix of apartments, duplexes and houses, with 10,200 square foot of commercial space on the ground floor. The development has also seen the addition of a new plaza, improvements to the surrounding areas for the station, and new landscaped step free pedestrian routes through the site.

Initially started as far back as 2018, Market Street has long been on the Walker Mower project list. Working as sub-contractors through our client, R.G. Evans, the Walker Mower team have seen the project through from the ground up, designing the initial preliminary design and finishing with record drawings of the blocks in their final states. Market Street consists of nine blocks of flats, ranging in size and quality, and two rows of townhouses, both designed to be up-market.

Whilst only initially working on the mechanical aspects of the job, the Walker Mower team worked hard to ensure that everything was designed properly and efficiently; utilising the services of such applications as Revit to generate 3d models of the common areas for easy coordination with other contractors on the job. The team also liaised regularly with the electrical team and the architect, ensuring that all design was carried out in sync with everybody else's.
